Energy

The power goes out here often. Just like Manila under the Ramos administration!

Bangladesh doesn't have a lot of energy. Most of its energy comes from natural gas -- so, for example, the little tricycles are called CNGs, or compressed natural gas.

There are a number of printed and TV ads that promote less consumption of energy. Last night I saw one where a guy carefully makes sure he locks up his house before getting into his car, and then he runs back inside because he forgot to turn the ceiling fan off.

Here's an example of how they save energy in homes: the power outlets have a switch! You plug something in, and you have to flip the switch to let the current come through; otherwise, no power for you.
